Our attempt at Crating our dog

We wish our dog, Rusty,
would take to the crate as Elizabeth did.

We ended up having to gently force him in for a few hours while we were gone today. Tonight he went in to lay down for a few minutes on his own. I was worried that he might not ever want to go in by himself after the forced incident this morning, but I was pleasantly surprised. He might warm up to the idea after all.

Hey, it can't be all that bad...the kids like to climb in too.

New addition - better photo

See, I knew it wouldn't be long till I took a better picture of Rusty.

Sometimes it pays to be patient.

It helps that we took off that silly cone, and that he was sitting still for a change!

New Addition to the Family

Don't mind the terrible picture, I'm sure there will better ones taken in the future.

This is RUSTY, our new dog. We rescued him from the local Animal Shelter. When my husband asked what I thought about getting a dog the first thought that entered my was we'd better go now. We went to the shelter that day and found this rusty color Labrador-mix (matches Kaitlynn's color to a tee). Elizabeth seemed to bond to him immediately. The workers offered us a deal since he had been there a while. They had to keep him overnight to neutered him and we picked him up the next day. OH, was that hard on the kids! I'm still not sure who was more excited Greg or Joe.

So far he has fit right in. Kaitlynn is more stand-offish right now, but she usually is with most animals. Elizabeth is right in the mist of the action, usually getting bowled over since he has to wear the "cone." Brianna is brave unless it involves getting too close to his mouth, smart girl.

Welcome Rusty to the Porter clan, we love you already.
